Mint

Mint is known from ancient Greece where they rubbed their table with it to scent it when they were expecting guests. Its Latin name, Mentha, comes from the ancient Greek myth of Minthis, who was a nymph that Pluto loved and Persephone then out of jealousy transformed her into a plant. Pluto could not give her back her original form but gave her her characteristic scent so that she could sweeten the air around her.

Cuisine

Mint has a characteristic refreshing, peppery taste. In cooking, it can accompany rice, vegetables, salads, marinades for seafood, pasta, sauces and soups, while you can also try the classic English recipe for lamb with mint sauce. It needs attention during cooking as it must be added at the end of cooking because if it is cooked for a long time it will lose its aroma.
Mint can also be used to make sweets, liqueurs and to make refreshing teas.

Traditional Properties

Traditionally mint is used as a decoction against colds, laryngitis and in inhalations for runny nose as it is rich in the natural phytochemical element menthol. It is a classic stimulant, aphrodisiac and the sensation of cold it causes increases the metabolism especially if used for physical application. Due to its muscle relaxant properties, mint can help us with gastrointestinal disorders, deal with stress, period pains and irregular cycle.
